God is omnipotent

Evil exists
A good thing is opposed to evil (in that it tries to eliminate evil as far as it can)
There are no limits to what an omnipotent being can do
Evidential Problem of Evil
There exist instances of intense suffering which an omnipotent, omniscient being could have prevented without thereby losing some greater good or permitting some evil equally bad or worse
An omniscient, wholly good being would prevent the occurrence of any intense suffering it could, unless it could not do so w/o thereby losing some greater good or permitting some evil equally bad or worse
There does not exist an omnipotent, omniscient, wholly good being
Objection to Evidential Problem of Evil Premise 1
There aren’t any instances of intense suffering which God could have prevented without thereby losing some greater good
This greater good is free will, God would have lost this

Perhaps once God has set the universe in motion he can no longer participate
