Anatomy
The study of the structure of the body and its parts.

Contusion
A soft tissue injury produced by blunt force.
Strain

Dislocation
When the articular surfaces of the joint are no longer aligned.
Subluxation
A partial or incomplete dislocation.
Acute pain
A type of pain that comes on suddenly and is often sharp in quality.
Chronic pain
A type of pain that persists over a long period of time.
NSAIDs
Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs used to relieve pain and reduce inflammation.
PRICE
An acronym for protection, rest, ice, compression, and elevation used in the management of sports injuries.
Fracture
A complete or incomplete disruption in the continuity of bone.
Open Reduction Internal Fixation (ORIF)
A surgical procedure to align and secure bone fragments using internal fixation devices.
Compartment Syndrome
A time-sensitive surgical emergency characterized by increased pressure within an anatomic compartment.
Rhabdomyolysis
A medical condition involving the breakdown of muscle tissue and release of myoglobin into the bloodstream.
Fat Embolism Syndrome (FES)
A condition that can occur after a long bone or pelvic fracture, characterized by fat globules in the bloodstream.
Health Promotion
Activities and strategies aimed at improving health and preventing disease.
Nursing Diagnosis
A clinical judgment about individual, family, or community responses to actual or potential health problems.
Neurovascular Assessment
Evaluation of circulation, sensation and movement in an injured extremity.
