Osteoporosis

Bone remodeling
The process involving bone resorption by osteoclasts and bone formation by osteoblasts.
Osteoclasts
Cells that break down bone tissue, leading to bone resorption.
Osteoblasts
Cells responsible for bone formation.
Estrogen
A hormone that aids bone growth; its loss during menopause is a primary cause of osteoporosis in women.
Kyphosis
A condition characterized by an exaggerated curvature of the spine, which can occur due to osteoporosis.
Vitamin D
A nutrient essential for calcium absorption; a deficiency can contribute to osteoporosis.
Fractures
Common sign of osteoporosis due to brittle bones, resulting in more frequent breaks.
Clinical manifestations
Signs and symptoms of a disease; in osteoporosis, includes fractures, back pain, and loss of height.
