Midline
Referring to the ideal position of the uterus in a proper anatomical assessment.
Peristalsis
The involuntary contraction and relaxation of muscles in the GI tract that moves food through the digestive system.
Atrioventricular Valve
The valve that separates the atria from the ventricles in the heart, responsible for preventing backflow during contraction.
S1 Heart Sound
The first heart sound, commonly associated with the closure of the atrioventricular valves.
S4 Heart Sound
An abnormal heart sound that occurs just before S1, indicative of a stiff or hypertrophied left ventricle.
Erb's Point
A location on the chest wall where heart sounds can be best auscultated.
Bronchoscopy
