Director
Creative leader of the film; controls images, performances, and scenes.
Producer
Responsible for completing the movie and hiring key crew.
Executive Producer
Secures financing; may provide creative input.
Production Manager
Handles logistics, budgets, locations, contracts, and transportation.
Director of Photography (DP) / Cinematographer
Controls lighting and camera; creates the film’s visual look.
1st Assistant Camera (1st AC) / Focus Puller
Maintains camera and adjusts focus during shots.
Gaffer
Chief lighting technician who executes the DP’s lighting plan.
Key Grip
Head of grips, where grips control non electric/lighting items; they are the riggers on the set, support equipment, and safety.
Grip Department
Sets up non-electrical items that shape the lighting
Assistant Director (AD)
Runs set logistics, helps director keep to schedule, and facilitates intra-crew communication on set.
Script Supervisor
Track of what exactly is being shot, how it is being shot and recording it for the director and the editor, checks for continuity, and script coverage.
Camera Department
Films and captures the director’s vision.
Electric Department
Sets up and controls lighting equipment.
Production Designer/Art Director
Head of the Art Department; oversees the look of what is being shot itself, makes visual design of the sets, props, costumes, and scenic details.
Sound Recordist + Boom Operator
Records and mixes level from audio that is being picked up by boom operator
Special FX Department
Creates practical effects like rain, fog, wind, and explosions.
Stunt Department
Plans and performs dangerous action safely.
