Drug
Any substance that can change how the mind or body works.
Stimulants
A classification of drugs that speed up the central nervous system, causing increased blood pressure and faster heart rate.
Depressants
A classification of drugs that slow down the central nervous system, resulting in effects like slurred speech and slower reaction times.
Hallucinogens
Drugs that change a person's perceptions, feelings, and thoughts, appearing to distort reality and the sense of time.
Alcohol
A substance classified as a depressant that can cause short-term nausea and long-term liver problems.
Cannabis
A drug used for medical purposes or fun that acts as both a depressant and a hallucinogen.
Direct Peer Pressure
When someone keeps insisting that someone else tries something, like a cigarette, causing them to feel pressure to fit in.
Indirect Peer Pressure
When someone begins a behavior, like vaping, because they see someone else doing it and want to fit in.
ABV (%)
Alcohol content by volume, which is one of three important items to look for on an alcoholic beverage label.
FOMO
Fear of missing out; a feeling created for teenagers by influencers who link alcohol with fun, parties, and relaxation.
Mixing Drugs
A dangerous practice that can create unpredictable effects, reactions that cause cancer, or cause an overdose.
Medicine Safety
Ensuring medicine is not overdosed, expired, taken without a prescription, or combined with alcohol.
Alcoholic Beverage Label
Contains three important pieces of information: Standard drink, Volume (ml), and Alcohol content/ABV ().
Short-Term Effects of Alcohol
Includes nausea, drowsiness, slurred speech, and unstable emotions.
Long-Term Effects of Heavy Alcohol Use
Includes liver problems, increased risk of diabetes, strokes, and brain damage.
