Origin: This nerve originates from the medial and anterior side of the midbrain, just above the pons
Passage: It's the 1st of 4 cranial nerves to pass through the superior orbital fissure

Origin: It originates from the posteroior side of the midbrain and exits laterally just above the pons; take note that this is the only cranial nerve that originates posteriorly
Passage: It's the 2nd of 4 cranial nerves to pass through the superior orbital fissure
