New cards

Why did their attack fail?

  • Kerbogha’s forces spend 3 weeks in Edessa to try and take the city from Baldwin of Boulogne (time wasted)

  • Kerbogha did not have complete control over his men - they were gathered from different Seljuk territories

  • Chose to spread his troops around the whole city, lacked power to rally them

  • Fatimids had a truce with the crusaders so did not send an army to support Kebogha
