War Communism
Major economic slump at out break of civil war
To overcome the slump they introduced: Grain requisitioning, banning private trade, rationing of goods, mass nationalisation, end of syndicalism
Famine which killed 5m people in 1920-21

Created a mixed economy
Requisition lowered by 50% in 1920
Private trading legalised by large sectors remained nationalised
Production of food still below 1913 level
Relaxed econ = Harsh political → 5k Mens arrested in 1921
Economically stable by 1924
Ended the economic chaos caused by War Communism but econ was still fragile due to war and low crop production
