Common Mole
Cylindrical body with prominent broad, spade-like forelimbs, pink pointed snout and short tail. Uniformly short velvety black fur. Ears not visible and minute eyes.

European Hedgehog
usually have between 5000 and 7000 spines. The face, chest, belly, throat and legs of the animal are not covered in these spines, but instead in a coarse, grey-brown fur. RED LISTED

Common Shrew
A small creature with tiny eyes, small ears and a long nose, giving its face a pointy shape. Its fur is dense and velvety, the colouring is dark brown on its back, grey or silver underneath, and pale brown on the sides.

Pygmy Shrew
Distinctive long nose with very small eyes and ears. Their fur is short and two-tone, grey-brown on top and grey or white on the underside. The tail is hairy and about 70% the length of the body

Water Shrew
Black fur on top, silver/grey fur underneath. Larger than other species. Long pointed snout with small ears and tiny eyes. On closer inspection, has fringe of stiff silver hairs on underside of tail.

Greater white-toothed shrew
Covered in a grey-red-brown upper half and a yellowish-grey underside, they have prominent ears, bright white teeth, and a tail with long, white hairs

Brown Hare
has very long black-tipped ears; large, long, powerful hind legs. They are much redder than their counter-parts, and with a black-topped tail. There is yellow flecking to the fur.

Mountain Hare
Sporting a white tail, they have a coat which is brown in summer but turns white in winter. They have long ears that are shorter than those of their counter-parts with slightly black tips.

Rabbit
have long ears without black tips and long hind legs; their colouring is sandy, and they have a bobbing stride.
