Semiconductor
A material that has conductivity between that of insulator and conductor, used in electronic devices.
Dopant
An impurity added to a semiconductor to change its electrical properties.
Valence Electrons
Electrons in the outer shell of an atom that determine electrical conductivity.
Diode
A semiconductor device that allows current to flow in one direction only.
Current Flow Theory
A theory that describes the flow of electric current as moving from positive to negative.
NPN Transistor
A type of transistor where current flows from the collector to the emitter, with the base controlling the flow.
PNP Transistor
A type of transistor where current flows from the emitter to the collector, with the base controlling the flow.
Digital Device
A device that has two distinct states, such as on and off.
Analog Device
A device that can vary continuously and is adjustable to different states.
