Ethernet Speed
The rate at which data is transmitted over an Ethernet connection, typically measured in megabits per second (Mbps) or gigabits per second (Gbps).
Duplex
Refers to the ability of a network interface to send and receive data; can be set to half duplex (one direction at a time) or full duplex (both directions simultaneously).
Link Aggregation
A method of combining multiple network interfaces to increase bandwidth and provide redundancy by treating them as a single connection.
LACP
Link Aggregation Control Protocol; an automatic configuration protocol used for setting up link aggregation between devices.
MTU (Maximum Transmission Unit)
The largest size of a data packet that can be transmitted over a network; typically set to 1500 bytes for Ethernet.
Jumbo Frames
Larger Ethernet frames that can increase the maximum size of a frame to improve efficiency in data transmission, commonly set up to 9000 bytes.
Subnet Mask
A number that divides an IP address into network and host portions, allowing devices to determine which part of the address identifies the network versus the host.
Default Gateway
The device that routes traffic from the local network to destinations on other networks, often a router in a home or corporate setting.
Half Duplex
A mode of communication where data transmission can occur in both directions but not simultaneously; one device transmits while the other receives.
Full Duplex
A mode of communication where data transmission can occur simultaneously in both directions, allowing for more efficient data transfer.
