P wave
Electric contraction of the heart, seen in an ECG.
Cushing's syndrome
A condition characterized by central obesity, moon face, buffalo hump, purple striae, bruising, thin skin, and hyperglycemia.
DIC
Disseminated Intravascular Coagulation, often a complication in obstetrics.
Diphenhydramine
An antihistamine used to treat urticaria (hives).
Anemia
A condition characterized by a lack of healthy red blood cells, often treated with red meats, leafy greens, B12, and Vitamin C.
Septic shock
A severe reaction to infection causing latic acid build-up.
Hypothermia
A medical emergency where body temperature drops; requires gradual rewarming.
Tetanus vaccine schedule
Recommended every 10 years.
Blood transfusion
Involves monitoring for blood pressure changes; transfusion should be stopped if abnormalities occur.
Sickle cell disease
A genetic condition affecting red blood cells, leading to episodic pain and complications.
Venous insufficiency
A condition where veins cannot pump enough blood back to the heart; raising legs helps.
Warfarin
An anticoagulant that requires monitoring of Vitamin K intake.
Hyperthyroidism
A condition that may cause bulging of the eyes, known as Graves' disease.
Osteoarthritis treatment
Includes rest, maintaining a healthy weight, and medications like naproxen and ibuprofen.
