Infants: Birth - 18 Months

Trust vs. Mistrust

- early childhood, secure attachment

- consistent led down causes mistrust

Toddlers: 18 months - 3 years

Autonomy vs. Shame and Doubt

- being able to be independent

- not encouraged to be independent

Preschool: 3-6 years

Initiative vs. Guilt

- set a goal and thinks he can achieve it (learn to set goals)

- realize he can't achieve it (can't accomplish it and feels guilt)

Childhood: 6-12 years

Industry vs. Inferiority

- being competent (more secure)

- you feel inferior (less secure)

Adolescence: 12-19 years

Identity vs. Role Confusion

- finding out who you are

- conform with/to the trends

Young Adults: 20-40 years

Intimacy vs. Isolation

- committing to a relationship

- if they haven't settled down it will be difficult

Middle Adulthood: 40-65 years

Generatively vs. Stagnation

- how can I impact/change the world?

- life is almost over so I don't need to do anything

Seniors: 65+ years

Ego Integrity vs. Despair

- feel satisfied with your life

- feel you haven't lived your life to its fullest
