Sam, Field End, and Nose
A defensive personnel group that stays together when setting the front based on field position.
Will, Bandit, and Tackle
A defensive personnel group that stays together when setting the front based on field position.
Under Front (Ball Right)
The front set when the ball is on the right side of the field, setting the front right 1,3.
Under Front (Ball Left)
The front set when the ball is on the left side of the field, setting the front left 3,1.
Front 22
The front set when the ball is in the middle of the field, utilizing positions 2i,2i.
11 Personnel Personnel with TE
The condition under which the front is set specifically to the TE.
MOD
Coverage where Corners and Safeties read #2; if #2 goes out or swings, the Corner takes it and the Safety plays the 21; if #2 goes vertical or in, they play 41.
Sam and Will (MOD)
Players who wall #2 and leverage the back to the flats; if the back is away, they get under #1.
Mike (MOD)
The player who plays the middle hole and pushes to the side the back swings.
PITT
Coverage where Corners and Safeties play #1 and #2 Man Vertical; if their man goes under the LBs, they rob or zone to their quarter.
Sam and Will (PITT)
Players who are heavy curl to the RPO side to the flats.
Mike (PITT)
The player who robs the middle in the PITT coverage scheme.
BROWN
Coverage where the Corners play 31, the FS rolls to the middle of the field 31, and the Weak Safety rolls down to play Seam/Curl/Flats.
Mike and Will (BROWN)
Players who play the hook and line up in 30′S.
CALI (BRACKET)
Coverage with Corners man on #1 and a bracket on #2; Mike is man on the back.
LB Leverage (CALI)
Rule for Sam and Will: if the back is to you, you are inside leverage #2; if the back is away, you are outside leverage of #2.
Break the Bracket (2x2 TWINS ONLY)
If the back swings, Mike gives a push call, passes the RB to the OLB, and robs the Middle Hole while the Safety takes #2 man by himself.
Broad Coverage Blitzes
The list of blitzes includes FIRE WIND, FIRE STORM, WHAM, STAB, OKIE FIRE STORM, and OKIE FIRE WIND.
OKIE FIRE STORM
A specific blitz performed within the BROWN coverage shell involving Mike and Will.
Weak Safety (BROWN)
The player responsible for playing Seam/Curl/Flats after rolling down in the BROWN coverage.
