Inflammation
A general nonspecific protective response that involves tissue responses to confine the area of infection.
Cardinal signs of inflammation
Redness, warmth, swelling, pain, and loss of function.
C difficile treatment
Flagyl or vancomycin.
Compromised immune system
A condition that increases a person's risk of infection, often seen in individuals like the elderly or those undergoing chemotherapy.

Used in the ER for ingesting a large amount of medication to absorb toxins.
What indicates a respiratory compromise postoperatively?

Protective isolation
A method to prevent infection in patients with low WBC counts, involving sterile techniques and limited visitors.
Eosinophils in WBC count
Elevated eosinophils can indicate an allergic response.
