How did Lincoln seemingly subvert the purpose of the Gettysburg Address?

It is interesting to notice what he doesn’t mention directly:

• Slavery and emancipation

• Details of the battle, including who won

Lincoln says they are there to dedicate the battlefield, but they can’t, because the fallen soldiers have already done so. But there is something they can do, which is to dedicate themselves to the cause for which those soldiers fought and died: that our nation has a “new birth of freedom” and that US democratic form of government will continue.
