Warships
Platforms that use torpedoes, guns, surface-to-surface missiles, or mines as weapons against surface threats and are more resilient to damage for prolonged and sustained ASUW operations.
Asymmetric Threats
Adversaries which do not follow conventional doctrines, or TTPs and seem to defy logic, failing to follow pre-planned or "rehearsed" courses of action.
Surface Warfare
The employment of surface combatants for naval operations to establish battlespace dominance in the sea surface.
Electronic Warfare (EW)
A military action to exploit the electromagnetic spectrum, including the search for, identification, and interception of electromagnetic emissions, and the use of electromagnetic or directed energy to prevent hostile use of the spectrum.
Frigate
A medium-sized surface combatant capable of conducting extended blue-water missions in a medium-threat environment.
Anti-Air Warfare (AAW)
A term used to indicate the action required to destroy or reduce to an acceptable level the enemy air and missile threat.
Diesel Electric Submarine
The type of submarine, specifically the Russian Navy's RFS Ufa (490), monitored and escorted by Philippine Navy aircraft during its West Philippine Sea transit on Nov. 28, 2024.
