Monosaccharides
Glucose, galactose, fructose, ribose, deoxyribose - smallest single unit building block of carbohydrates. Simple sugars with 3-6 carbons only.
Disaccharides
Maltose, Lactose, Sucrose - pairs of monosaccharides. Complex sugars
Polysaccharides-
Amylose, amylopectin, Glycogen, Cellulose - glucose polymers of monosaccharides. Complex carbohydrates.
Fisher projection
Linear monosaccharides presented vertically with carbonyl carbon at top.

Fisher projection names
“Aldose” or “Ketose” with # of carbons (triose, tetrose, pentose, hexose) → ex. aldetetrose, ketotriose.
Stereoiscomers
2 compounds with the same molec formula, connectivity, and spacial orientation but are not superimposable. Mirror images.
