counsel on CKD
Kidneys are responsible for filtering waste from your blood, producing some chemicals in the body, and producing urine.
Chronic kidney disease is a long-term condition where the kidneys don't work as well as they should.
This can be due to many reasons, but in your case it is likely this is due to the sugars in your blood damaging the kidney.
As we said, the kidney has many functions so when it is damaged there are a few things we need to look out for. Waste products can build up in the blood causing you to feel quite sick, and your ankles can also get swollen as the kidney can't get rid of as much water. The bones can also get quite weak & you can feel tired as people can become anaemic. Finally, people can have heart problems so we need to keep an eye on your cholesterol & blood pressure
*(uraemia, swelling, bone disease, anaemia, cvs - keep an eye on cholesterol and BP)
high blood pressure counselling
- hypertension is high blood pressure all the time
- the force that blood flows around your body
- the tubes get smaller (action) which means your heart has to work harder
systolic = pressure when the heart beats and is pushing blood out
diastolic = pressure when the heart is resting between beats
- can cause damage to some of your organs
