What is the reactivity series?

A list of elements in order from most reactive being at the top, and least reactive being at the bottom

Displacement reactions can be used to extract metals from their oxides

What do displacement reactions involve?

They include a metal and the compound of a different metal

How does displacement work?

A more reactive metal will displace or push out a less reactive metal from its compound in a displacement reaction

What should you look for in a displacement reaction?

a colour change or change in temperature; when recording a colour change, always include both the starting colour as well as the end colour
