Arnis
The national martial art and sport of the Philippines, also known as Eskrima or Kali, which emphasizes weapon-based fighting and weaponless techniques.
Republic Act No. 9850
The legislative act passed in 2009 that officially declared Arnis as the National Martial Art and Sport of the Philippines.
Padded Stick
Equipment used in competitive Arnis typically made of rattan encased in protective foam and a nylon cover, measuring approximately 60cm to 75cm in length.
Pugay
The traditional bow performed by Arnis players before and after a match as a sign of respect.
Deep Dish
A slang term in Beach Volleyball describing a very clean overhead set characterized by a slight pause.
Sky Ball
A high-arcing underhand serve in Beach Volleyball intended to utilize sun and wind to disadvantage the receiver.
Husband-and-Wife Foul

Let

A violation in Athletics where a runner moves their feet or hands from the starting blocks or ground before the gun is fired.
Anchor (Relay)
The final runner in a relay team.
Bell Lap
A bell signal indicating the final lap of a long-distance race in Athletics.
Sector
The fan-shaped area on the field where a thrown implement must land for the attempt to be valid in Athletics throwing events.
Toe Board
A curved wooden block at the front of the Shot Put circle used to prevent the athlete from stepping out of the throwing area.
Tekong
The specific player in Sepak Takraw who stands in the service circle and serves the ball.
Regu
A team in Sepak Takraw consisting of three players.
Sunback Spike
A spectacular Sepak Takraw move similar to a bicycle kick in soccer, performed over the shoulder.
Shuttlecock
The feathered or nylon projectile used in Badminton, also known as a birdie, weighing between 4.74g and 5.50g.
Smash
A powerful, steep overhead shot in Badminton aimed directly down into the opponent's court.
Dobok
The official uniform worn by Taekwondo practitioners, usually featuring a V-neck design.
