Cardiorespiratory Endurance
Ability to perform moderately strenuous activity over a period of time; reflects how well your heart and lungs work together to supply oxygen during exertion.
Muscular Endurance
Ability to hold a particular position for a sustained period of time or repeat a movement many times.
Muscular Strength
Ability to exert maximum force, such as lifting the heaviest weight.
Flexibility
Ability to move a joint through its full range of motion; the elasticity of the muscle.
Body Composition
The proportion of fat in the body compared to bone and muscle; does not refer to your weight in pounds.
Speed
Ability to perform a movement or cover a distance in a short period of time.
Power
Ability to release maximum force quickly, combining speed and strength.
Coordination
The linking of senses, such as sight and hearing, through the brain to the parts of the body.
Balance
Ability to remain stable and move while exchanging direction quickly.
Agility
Ability to move and change direction quickly.
Reaction Time
The amount of time it takes to make a physical response once a need to take action is identified.
Locomotor Skills
Skills in which the body moves through space, such as walking, running, and jumping.
Non-Locomotor Skills
Positions the body assumes without moving the base of support, such as bending and twisting.
Manipulative Skills
Body activities involving objects, such as playing baseball or basketball.
