Memory Formation
The process by which memories are created, stored, and recovered in the brain.
Spectral Colors
Colors that correspond to specific wavelengths of light, visible on the spectrum.
Wavelength
The distance between successive peaks of a wave; in light, it determines color.
Photons
Particles of light that carry energy and have varying wavelengths.
Color Temperature
A characteristic of visible light that describes the warmth or coolness of a light source, often expressed in Kelvin.
Trichromatic Vision
The ability to see color through three types of cones in the retina, each sensitive to different wavelengths.
Opponent Color System
A color theory suggesting that color perception is controlled by opposing pairs of colors (e.g., red vs. green, blue vs. yellow).
Unique Hues
Colors that cannot be created by mixing other colors; typically defined as red, green, yellow, and blue.
Chromatic Adaptation
The eye's ability to adjust to changes in light color in the environment.
Dichromat
An individual with two types of color receptors, which affects their color vision.
