Plato’s rationalism
To work out the truth about the world through rational contemplation rather than the senses- the senses are decieving. Understand reality by using reason to understand the essence of an object.
Descartes’ rationalism
Truth must be indubitable. There’s only one certainty- that I exist.
Locke’s empiricism
All our ideas come from experience and that there are no innate ideas from birth

Knowledge only comes from the mind. Reason is the chief source of knowledge
What is empiricism?
Knowledge comes from experience and the senses.

a doubtful attitude towards commonly accepted claims.
Hume’s empiricism
opinions are reasonable if, and only if, they are supported by evidence that is ultimately grounded in experience.
