Regular meds (not dangerous, not controlled) → Send to reverse distributor or DEA take-back program
P-listed hazardous waste
Very dangerous drugs (even tiny amounts) → Special hazardous waste container (EPA)
U-listed hazardous waste
Toxic drugs/chemicals → Dispose in hazardous waste container (EPA)
Controlled substances
Scheduled drugs (CII–CV) → Use DEA Form 41 or send to reverse distributor
Trace chemo waste
Items with a little chemo on them (gloves, tubing) → Yellow container
Bulk chemo waste
Leftover chemo drugs → Black container + burned (incinerated)
P-listed hazardous drugs
Very dangerous (even tiny amounts)
U-listed hazardous drugs
Toxic but less dangerous than P-listed
