Marketisation
The process of moving education towards operating like a business based on supply and demand.
Hidden Curriculum
The informal learning process that occurs within schools, teaching societal norms and values.
Cultural Capital
The knowledge, attitudes, values, and capabilities that enable social mobility.
Educational Triage
The practice of categorizing students into different streams based on their likelihood of achieving desired grades.
Labelling Theory
A theory suggesting that teachers may label students based on perceived characteristics leading to a self-fulfilling prophecy.
Social Stratification
The arrangement of individuals into hierarchical layers based on socio-economic status.
Comprehensive Education
A non-selective form of schooling where all students attend the same schools regardless of ability.
Role Allocation
The process of assigning students to different roles or paths in society based on their educational achievement.
Meritocracy
A system where individuals advance based on ability and talent rather than social class or wealth.
Ideological State Apparatus
