Though this [man] had been a supporter of the nobility at all times and in this very recent uprising when the eminence and safety of all the nobles were falling into jeopardy,

praeter ceteros in ea vicinitate defendit eam partem que causam opera, studio, auctoritate.

he, beyond the rest in that neighbourhood, defended that party and their cause by his diligence, zeal, [and] prestige.

etenim putabat rectum se pugnare pro honestate eorum, propter quos ipse numerabatur inter suos honestissimus.

For in truth, he considered [it] right [that] he should fight for the honour of these [men], because of whom he himself was counted among his own [people as] most honourable.

postea quam victoria constituta que recessimus ab armis,

After victory was established and we stepped back from our arms,

when men were being proscribed and those who were considered to have been enemies were being captured from every region,
