Act 1 Scene 1
Roderigo, paying Iago to win Desdemona, learns she has married Othello. Iago resents Othello for promoting Cassio. Iago and Roderigo disturb Barbantio, crying out thieves, who doesn't believe them until Iago claims Othello and Desdemona are having sex, prompting Barbantio to search, following Roderigo in anger.
Act 1 Scene 2
Iago warns Othello of Barbantio's demand for a divorce, advising him to hide. Cassio informs Othello he is needed by the Duke of V regarding Cyprus. Barbantio arrives with his men, trying to attack Othello, but Othello stops them, and Barbantio plans to take the issue to the Duke.
Act 1 Scene 3
During a Duke's meeting, a sailor enters to announce a Turkish invasion of Rhodes, but senators doubt its accuracy. Barbantio accuses Othello of bewitching his daughter, but Othello defends their love. Desdemona pledges her loyalty, silencing Barbantio. The Duke sends Othello to Cyprus, with Desdemona accompanying him. Alone with Roderigo, Iago manipulates him into following them to Cyprus. SOLILOQUY 1- he plots to deceive him for money and suspicious of Emilia and Othello, plans to deceive Othello of Desdemona's infidelity.
Act 2 Scene 1
In Cyprus, Montano predicts the Turkish fleet's demise in a storm. Cassio reports their losses and worries about Othello. Desdemona, Iago, Emilia, and Roderigo arrive and wait. Once Othello arrives and greets Desdemona they all head to the castle to celebrate. Alone, Iago tells Roderigo of Cassio’s ill intentions Desdemona when he comforted her, convincing him to start a fight. SOLILOQUY 2 - Iago plots to get even with Othello and get revenge.
Act 2 Scene 2
A herald announces that Othello plans a party for the evening in celebration of Cyprus’s safety from the Turks, and also in celebration of his marriage to Desdemona.
Act 2 Scene 3
Othello leaves Cassio on guard while he departs with Desdemona. Iago manipulates Cassio into drinking, causing a fight with Roderigo, injuring Montano after stepping in. Othello arrives, believes Iago, and discharges Cassio, leaving soonafter. Iago suggests Cassio appeals to Desdemona for his lieutenantship. SOLILOQUY 3 - Talks of the irony of his villainy and Desdemona’s virtue into pitch. Roderigo enters upset for his losses, Iago reassures him and then tells the audience of his plans to use Emilia to get to Desdemona
Act 3 Scene 1
Cassio sends musicians to Othello to win his favor. Othello's servant (Clown) dismisses them, and Cassio asks the clown to have Emilia speak to Desdemona. Iago enters, promises to fetch Emilia, and exits. Emilia informs Cassio that Desdemona has been advocating for him, but Othello is reluctant to reappoint Cassio due to Montano’s popularity. Emilia lets Cassio wait for Desdemona.
Act 3 Scene 2
Iago, Othello, and a gentleman walk together at the citadel. Othello gives Iago some letters to deliver and decides to take a look at the town’s fortification.
Act 3 Scene 3
Desdemona advocates for Cassio's reinstatement as lieutenant. Othello acts evasively, fueling her frustration. Iago insinuates a possible affair between Cassio and Desdemona, planting seeds of doubt in Othello. Othello asks Iago to have Emilia watch Desdemona and becomes consumed with jealousy, believing he is no longer loved. Desdemona tries to soothe Othello’s headache when the handkerchief drops. Iago plots to plant it in Cassio’s room. Othello demand Iago of proof of Desdemona’s infidelity. Iago fabricates a story about Cassio's dream and the handkerchief, fueling Othello's rage and driving him to seek revenge.
Act 3 Scene 4
Desdemona instructs the clown to relay her message to Cassio about Othello. She questions Emilia about her missing handkerchief, which Othello soon demands. Othello asks for the handkerchief and suspecting Desdemona's infidelity, explains the handkerchief's history given by his mother and its symbol of loyalty. Desdemona claims to possess it but cannot produce it, , unsettling Othello. He storms off, while Emilia reflects on men's fickleness. Cassio seeks Desdemona’s help, but she warns him of Othello's anger and leaves with Emilia to find him. Meanwhile, Bianca confronts Cassio about his neglect and the handkerchief.
Act 4 Scene 1
Iago intensifies Othello's obsession with the handkerchief, convincing him that Cassio has been intimate with Desdemona, leading Othello into a trance-like state. Cassio arrives to talk with Iago, who instructs him to return later when Othello is absent, while suggesting Othello remain nearby to witness Cassio's supposed guilt. Bianca bursts in, accusing Cassio of receiving a love token (the handkerchief). Alone Othello and Iago plot to kill Cassio and Desdemona. Lodovico enters, calling Othello back to Venice, leaving Cassio in charge in Cyprus. Othello strikes Desdemona for her excitement, leaving Lodovico horrified whilst accusing her of being promiscuous.
Act 4 Scene 2
Othello questions Emilia about Desdemona's fidelity, and demands to see her. Emilia brings Desdemona,then leaves to guard the door. Alone with her, he weeps, lamenting potential dishonor to his lineage. Desdemona denies infidelity, but Othello sarcastically labels her the 'cunning whore of Venice' and storms out. Emilia comforts Desdemona, who then seeks Iago for answers. Meanwhile, Roderigo, frustrated by his love for Desdemona, is manipulated by Iago, who deceives him to kill Cassio.
Act 4 Scene 3
After dinner, Othello proposes to walk with Lodovico and sends Desdemona to bed and to dismiss Emilia. Desdemona, aware of her fate, asks Emilia to use her wedding sheets as a shroud if she dies. As she undresses, she sings 'Willow,' a song of lost love. The pair talk of the likeliness of being unfaithful towards their husbands and Desdemona reinforces her values and loyalty before going to bed.
Act 5 Scene 1
Iago and Roderigo ambush Cassio outside Bianca's brothel. Roderigo attacks with a sword but fails; Cassio wounds him. Iago stabs Cassio in chaos, and Othello hears, believing Iago has succeeded, and seeks to kill Desdemona. Lodovico and Graziano hear the commotion through the darkness and Iago pretends to discover him and stabs Iago before coming face-to-face with the other two men to question Cassio. Bianca enters and Iago questions Cassio only to blame Roderigo. Emilia enters and Iago accuses Bianca and arrests her, sending Emilia to tell Othello and Desdemona.
Act 5 Scene 2
Othello kisses Desdemona as he prepares to kill her, believing she has been unfaithful. She wakes frightened as Othello confronts her affair with Cassio. Ignoring her denial, he reveals Cassio’s death, causing her to weep. He smothers her despite her pleas. Emilia enters and reveals Roderigos death and Cassio being alive. Othello confesses murdering his unfaithful wife. Emilia calls out for Montano, Graziano and Iago before revealing Iago’s manipulation. Iago stabs Emilia and Montano and Graziano follow him as he flees. Lodovico and the others return with Iago who Othello stabs. Othello then takes his own life.
