Interactive States
Feedback mechanisms for buttons, links, and inputs, including default, hover, active, and disabled states.
Friction
Every extra step or decision a user has to make that increases the chance of drop off, which can be reduced by optimizing form fields and avoiding unnecessary modals.
Tooltips
Elements used for explaining features that may indicate a UI is not intuitive enough if they are relied upon too heavily.
Spacing and Alignment
Design elements used to create structure, making interfaces more readable and visually pleasing.
Accessibility
A non-negotiable design requirement involving color contrast testing, keyboard navigation support, and alternative text for images.
Real-world testing
The process of testing with real users and iterating based on feedback to move beyond theoretical perfection in designs created in tools like Figma.
Mobile-first mindset
A design strategy that starts with the smallest screen and scales up to ensure core functionality works smoothly on all devices.
Design with empathy
The practice of considering how users feel when interacting with a design to ensure it is both usable and enjoyable.
