Progressive Tax
◦ More taxes on larger amounts of money
◦ Ex: If you make $10,000, you might be taxed 10%; if you make $25,000, you would be taxed 12%
◦ Income tax is progressive
Regressive Tax
◦ Flat rate
◦ The more money you make, the less money goes to taxes
◦ Sales, payroll, & property taxes are regressive
◦ Women are hurt by regressive taxing because they’re paid less than men are, so more of their income goes to taxes
