Social Change
Changes in beliefs, practices, institutions, values, and social relationships in society.
Structuralism
A theory focused on understanding the structure of the mind and society; associated with Edward Titchener and Roland Barthes.
Functionalism
A theory focusing on the purpose (function) of social institutions and behavior, where society works like a body where each part serves a function.
Conflict Theory
A theory suggesting society is based on conflict between groups competing for power; key figures include Karl Marx and Max Weber.
Feminism
A theory aimed at promoting equality and challenging discrimination against women; associated with John Stuart Mill.
Humanism
A theory focusing on human potential, self-worth, and self-actualization; associated with Carl Rogers.
Queer Theory
