Executive Branch

Judiciary Act of 1789
Created the Supreme Court, consisting of one chief justice and five associate justices, along with 13 district courts and three circuit courts of appeals.
Hamilton’s Financial Program
A series of measures including paying national debt, imposing tariffs, and creating a national bank.
Proclamation of Neutrality (1793)
Issued by Washington to maintain neutrality during the French Revolution, rejecting calls to support France.
Jay Treaty (1794)
Treaty where Great Britain agreed to evacuate western frontier posts while maintaining U.S. neutrality.
Pinckney Treaty (1795)
Treaty where Spain granted Americans navigation rights on the Mississippi River and recognized Florida's northern boundary.
Abolition of Aristocratic Titles
States eliminated feudal practices and confiscated Loyalist estates after the American Revolution.
Separation of Church and State
Most states ended tax funding for religious institutions, disestablishing the Anglican Church in the South.
Northern culture
Slavery declined and people were more religious.
Southern culture
Increased slavery, acted friendly towards other US citizens.
Cotton Gin
Invented by Eli Whitney in 1793, it increased the profitability of cotton and the demand for enslaved labor.
Interregional Slave Trade
Forcibly moved 500,000 to 1 million enslaved people from the Chesapeake region to supply Deep South plantations.
