Anorexia Nervosa
A disorder characterized by restriction leading to significantly low weight, an intense fear of fatness, and body-image distortion.
Anorexia Nervosa Mortality Rate
Approximately 10%.
Maudsley Therapy
A family-based therapy approach used for the treatment of Anorexia Nervosa.
Bulimia Nervosa
A disorder involving recurrent binges followed by compensatory purging in individuals who are typically at a normal weight.
Fluoxetine (Prozac)
An FDA-approved medication for Bulimia Nervosa, typically prescribed at 60mg.
Binge Eating Disorder
A condition involving recurrent binges without purging, which often leads to obesity and metabolic syndrome.
Lisdexamfetamine (Vyvanse)
An FDA-approved medication used in the treatment of Binge Eating Disorder.
Pica
The persistent eating of non-nutritive substances for a duration of ≥1 month.
Rumination Disorder
A condition characterized by the regurgitation and re-chewing of food, often seen in infants or adults with intellectual disabilities (ID).
Delirium
Acute fluctuating confusion and attention deficit, often caused by an underlying medical issue.
Haloperidol
A low-dose typical antipsychotic used to treat agitation in patients with delirium.
Alzheimer's Disease (Major/Minor Neurocognitive)
A disorder marked by gradual memory and executive decline, associated with B-amyloid plaques and tau tangles.
Vascular Neurocognitive Disorder
A condition involving stepwise decline after strokes, managed by controlling BP and antiplatelet therapy.
Lewy Body Neurocognitive Disorder
A disorder presenting with fluctuating cognition, visual hallucinations, and Parkinsonism; typical antipsychotics should be avoided.
Frontotemporal Neurocognitive Disorder
A condition characterized by personality or language changes that occur before memory loss.
CBT-E
Enhanced Cognitive Behavioral Therapy used in the treatment of Anorexia Nervosa and Bulimia Nervosa.
Electrolyte Imbalance
A physiological risk factor specifically associated with the compensatory purging found in Bulimia Nervosa.

A clinical risk factor associated with the obesity resulting from Binge Eating Disorder.

Neurofibrillary tangles that, along with B-amyloid plaques, are pathological hallmarks of Alzheimer's disease.
