Hand Hygiene Friction Duration
Lathering all surfaces of wrists, hands, and fingers to produce friction for at least 20seconds.
Hand Hygiene Positioning
Keeping hands lower than the elbows and the fingertips down during the lathering and rinsing process.
Supine Position
Lying down in bed; the required position for a client when applies one knee-high elastic stocking.
Ambulation Preparation
Before assisting a client to stand, ensuring they are wearing non-skid shoes/footwear, the bed is at a safe level, and bed wheels are checked and/or locked.
Ambulation Stability Technique
Maintaining stability of client's legs by standing knee to knee, or toe to toe with the client during transfer.
Ambulation Distance
Walking slightly behind and to one side of the client for a distance of 10feet while holding onto the transfer belt.
Bedpan Placement Position
Lowering the head of the bed before placing the bedpan and raising the head of the bed after the bedpan is positioned.
Denture Cleaning Water Temperature
Rinsing all surfaces of the denture and denture cup using moderate temperature running water.
Radial Pulse Site
The thumb side of the client's wrist where fingertips are placed to locate the pulse.
Radial Pulse Recording Accuracy
The recorded pulse rate must be within plus or minus 4beats of the evaluator's reading.
Respiration Recording Accuracy
The recorded respiration rate must be within plus or minus 2breaths of the evaluator's reading.
PPE Cuffs Technique
Ensuring the cuffs of the gloves overlap the cuffs of the gown.
Dressing a Weak Arm
Assisting the client to put the right (affected/weak) arm through the sleeve before placing the garment on the left (unaffected) arm.
Feeding Posture
Ensuring the client is in an upright sitting position of 75−90degrees before, during, and after feeding.
Bed Bath Eye Cleaning Technique
Washing from the inner aspect to the outer aspect using a wet washcloth with no soap, and using a different area of the washcloth for each stroke.
Electronic Blood Pressure Limit
The pressure level at which the machine must be stopped and the cuff moved to the other arm if inflation exceeds 200mm Hg.
Urinary Output Measurement Rounding
Measuring at eye level on a flat surface and rounding up to the nearest 25ml/cc if the level is between measurement lines.
Weight Measurement Accuracy
Recorded weight must be within plus or minus 2lbs or plus or minus 0.9kg of the evaluator's reading.
PROM Repetitions
Joint exercises such as flexion/extension or abduction/adduction must be performed at least 3TIMES unless the client verbalizes pain.
Catheter Cleaning Direction
Cleaning at least 4inches of the catheter from the meatus, moving in only one direction, away from the meatus.
Foot Care Lotion Application
Applying lotion to the top and bottom of the foot while excluding the area between the toes.
Perineal Care Stroke Direction
Washing, rinsing, and drying the genital and rectal areas by moving from front to back.
Wheelchair Transfer Safety
Folding up or removing footrests and locking the wheels on the wheelchair before assisting the client to stand.
Manual Blood Pressure Inflation Range
Inflating the blood pressure cuff to between 160mm Hg and 180mm Hg.
Manual Blood Pressure Recording Accuracy
Recording both systolic and diastolic pressures within plus or minus 8mm of the evaluator's reading.
