Definition

 Two changes in manufacturing methods- transition from muscle and hand tools to machinery, and from household/workshop production to factory production

Time period

1770-1914 globally, with the major developments happening after 1870. 

Began in:

Britain but the impact was global - transformed economies by producing cheap, mass produced goods. Brought britain to the top of economic powers for the whole 19th century.

Transformed the:

 environment, by generating water and ait pollution. It gave way to a society thagt relies heavily on fossil fuels

Global web made it easy to:

transmit and transport industrial technologies easily
