Use: for poisonings
Contraindications: decreased LOC, ingested corrosives, etc.
Dose: 1-2 g/kg of weight
Albuterol
Use: Beta-2 agonist (bronchodilation), closing airway
Contraindications: hypersensitivity, tachycardia (sometimes), myocardial infarction
Dose: 1-2 inhalations (wait 5 mins before next dose)
Aspirin
Use: prevents platelets from clotting, anti-inflammatory
Contra: bleeding disorders, ulcers, liver damage
Dose: 160-325 mg (2-4 chewable tabs)
Epinephrine
Use: bronchodilator and vasodilator
Contra: hypertension, hyperthermia, MI
Dose: adult- 0.3 mg children- 0.15 mg
Naloxone (narcan)
Use: opioid overdose
Contra: hypersensitivity
Dose: 0.4 mg autoinjector (2 mg IN)
Nitroglycerin
Use: chest pain, vasodilator
Contra: hypotension, head injury, ED medication
Dose: 0.3-0.4 mg tablet or spray
Oral Glucose
Use: hypoglycemia
Contra: high blood glucose, decreased LOC
Dose: 30 g (one tube)
