Endoparasite
A parasite that lives inside the host's body.
Ectoparasite
A parasite that lives on the outside of the host's body.
S-I-R Model
A simple infection disease transmission model that incorporates Susceptible, Infected, and Resistant individuals.
Reproductive Ratio (R0)
A measure of the contagiousness of an infectious disease, calculated as the rate of new infections divided by the rate of recoveries.
Threshold Density (ST)
The minimum density of susceptible individuals required for a disease to persist and spread in a population.
Zoonotic Diseases
Diseases that can be transmitted from animals to humans.
Transmission Coefficient (β)
The rate at which a disease spreads from infectious to susceptible individuals.
Rate of Recovery (m)
The rate at which infected individuals recover or die from the disease.
Bubonic Plague
A disease caused by the bacteria Yersinia pestis, historically known as the Black Death.
Spillover
The process of a disease spreading from animals to humans.
