What are the 3 main areas of Publicity?
Design, communication, and social media.
What does Publicity do for design?
Publicity mainly creates program flyers, merch, and sometimes slides. If other positions make their own flyers, Pubs makes sure they get posted.
What does Publicity do for communication?
Pubs checks messages from Instagram or email, responds when needed, or redirects people to the right board member.
Why is Publicity important for Kaba’s image?
Publicity is often people’s first interaction with Kaba, so Pubs helps curate the org’s image, vibe, and online presence
What should every flyer include?
Kaba logo, date, location, time, clear title, subtitle, and “Kababayan [position] presents…”
What graphic design principle is important for flyers?
Flyers are informational design, so people usually read left to right; the most important info should be noticed first.
How can you improve visual hierarchy on a flyer?
Step back and ask what your eye sees first, then adjust position, contrast, size, font weight, and accessibility.
Why does font size/weight matter?
It affects readability, especially because people may view flyers on their phones
What kind of feedback is expected in Publicity?
Feedback should be constructive, not negative. Changes are meant to help the program’s vision come through better.
What is the marketing focus for Publicity?
Build a consistent presence through stories, video content, and Instagram insights.
Why are Instagram insights important?
They help track numbers, see what people like, and make better social media decisions.
What are the basic steps for apparel?
Find a vendor, create the design, send a professional email, and obtain a quote.
What should a professional vendor email include?
Professional tone, clear subject line, introduction, request details, call to action/quote request, and sign-off.
What affects apparel pricing?
Digitizing fees, larger sizes, shipping, and number of colors. More colors = more money, so stick to two colors or less when possible
