Experimental development
Training programs in which participants learn concepts and apply them by simulating behaviors involved and analyzing the activity, connecting it with real-life situations
Characteristics of development experiences
1. Success and failure are both possible and will be apparent to others
2. Requires "take charge" individual with strong leadership qualities
3. Involves working with new people, a lot of people or both
4. Creates high levels of personal pressure
5. Requires influencing people, activities over which the person has no formal control
6. Large variety of situations and tasks that will be watched and assessed by important individuals
7. I textually challenging
Different types of experimental development
-small projects start ups(things that a given person can do that really greats a project or program going)
-small scope jumps "fix its"(fix issues within the company)

-large leaps in scope or scale (job grows a lot)

-switches (line to staff or staff to line)
coach
A peer manager who works with an employee to motivate the employee, help them develop skills, and provide reinforcement and feedback.
mentor
an experienced, productive senior employee who helps develop a less experienced employee
