What defines a molecule?
A group of two or more atoms held together by chemical bonds.
Is Oxygen (O2) a compound?
No It is a molecule (atoms are bonded), but it is not a compound because it consists of only one type of element.
Does the formula NaCl represent a single molecule?
No it represents a 1:1 ratio of ions in a giant ionic crystal structure.
How many atoms of oxygen are in Ca(OH)2?
Two. The subscript 2 outside the bracket multiplies the oxygen inside.
Why can you separate a mixture by physical methods?
Because the substances in a mixture are not chemically bonded to each other.
