Sexual health
Physical and mental well-being related to sexuality, characterized by respect, consent, boundaries, and safe relationships.
Reproductive health
Aspects of health related to pregnancy, birth, contraception, fertility, Puberty, and Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs).
SOI (Sexually Transmitted Infections)
Infections best prevented through condom use, testing, vaccination, and open communication about sexual health.
Nervesystemet (Nervous system)
A network of specialized nerve cells that sends fast electrical impulses to control reflexes, muscle movements, sensory impressions, and thinking.
Hormonsystemet (Hormonal system)
A system where chemical compounds called hormones are produced in glands and sent via the blood to control processes like growth and blood sugar levels.
Insulin
A hormone used to regulate blood sugar by signaling muscle cells and the liver to store sugar, thereby lowering blood sugar levels.
Glukagon
A hormone that helps raise blood sugar levels if they have gone down.
Diabetes
A condition occurring when the pancreas (bukspyttkjertelen) does not function correctly, resulting in a lack of insulin production and elevated blood sugar levels.
Alkohol (Alcohol)
A substance that can affect signaling agents in the brain and reduce reaction ability.
Nikotin (Nicotine)
A substance that stimulates the nervous system.
Miljøgifter (Environmental toxins)
Heavy metals such as lead (bly) and mercury (kvikksølv) that can disturb the hormonal or nervous systems.
Anabole steroider (Anabolic steroids)
A form of doping used to artificially increase muscle growth, which can cause serious physical and psychological side effects.
Ytre forsvar (Outer defense)
The body's initial immune barrier consisting of the skin (hud), mucous membranes (slimhinner), and stomach acid (magesyre).
Indre forsvar (Inner defense)
The second line of immune protection including white blood cells, antibodies, and T-cells that attack infected cells.
Flokkimmunitet (Herd immunity)
Protection provided to unvaccinated individuals because a high percentage of the population is vaccinated, reducing the spread of infection.
