march 1571- ridolfi left england and met with the pope, phillip II and duke of alba to discuss the plot
ridolfi had a letter signed by the duke of norfolk saying he was officially catholic and he would lead the rebellion if he recieved help from phillip II. phillip told the duke of alba to prepare 10,000 men to send to england
sir william cecil uncovered the plot. ridolfi was abroad and never returned to england

may 1572- parliament demanded the execution of mary and duke of norfolk. elizabeth signed norfolks death warrant but not marys

throckmorton was captured in november 1583 and tortured until he confessed. he was executed in may 1584
