Cell Shapes
The various forms and structures that cells can take, influenced by their functions.
Squamous Cells
Flat, thin cells typically found in tissues that need to facilitate diffusion or filtration.
Cuboidal Cells
Cube-shaped cells that are involved in secretion and absorption.
Columnar Cells
Tall, column-like cells that often specialize in absorption and secretion.
Spherical Cells
Round cells, often associated with storage or transport of substances.
Transitional
Can change shape from taller cell to a flatter shape
Simple
A single layer of cells
Stratified
More then one layer of cells often with different shapes
Pseudostratfied
one layer of cells all different shapes
