name metal first
name the non metal second and change the suffix to -ide
write the number of each element as a subscript
Name to formula ionic
find the charge of each element
determine how many of each element you need to make it neutral
write the number of each element as a subscript
Multivalent extension
All transition metals form more then 1 charge, you use roman numerals to identify the charge while naming
Polyatomic extensuon
These can’t be changed and have to be together.

write the name of the first element with the appointed prefix
name the second element with prefix AND change the suffix to ide
