DIrect Democracy
A democracy in which the people themselves determine the laws and policies by which they are governed
Republic
A government in which supreme power rests with the people, but exercised by elected officials
Monarchy
A government in which political power is exercised by a single ruler such as a kingdom, who acquired their position through inheritance
Dictatorship
A system of rule in which one person holds unlimited power over government taken/controlled by force
Oligarchy
Rule by a small elite group of people usually members of the military or the economic elite
Anarchy
No one is recognized as governmental authority
Theocracy
A government in which the government is ruled by religious leaders who represent god, conducted according to religious principles and requirements.
