E-Commerce
Combines business and electronic infrastructures, allowing traditional business transactions to be conducted electronically.
B2B (Business-to-Business)
Describes commerce transactions between businesses, such as between a manufacturer and a wholesaler.
B2C (Business-to-Consumer)
Involves transactions between business organizations and consumers, selling products or services over the Internet.
C2B (Consumer-to-Business)
Involves transactions where consumers sell products or services to businesses.
C2C (Consumer-to-Consumer)
Involves transactions between consumers, facilitated by platforms like eBay and Etsy.
Information Asymmetry
Occurs when one party in a transaction has more or better information than the other.
Scalability
The ability of a website or system to handle increased workload by adding resources without breaking down.
TLS (Transport Layer Security)
A cryptographic protocol designed to provide secure communication over a computer network.
Load Balancing
Distributes network or application traffic across multiple servers to ensure no single server becomes overwhelmed.
Web Caching
A technique aimed at improving web performance by storing previous requests to reduce server load and access latency.
N-Tier Architecture
A software architecture model where the application is divided into multiple layers which can operate on different machines.
Merchant Account
A bank account that allows a merchant to accept credit card payments.
Secure Electronic Transaction (SET)
A standard for securing online credit card transactions.
Cryptography
The practice of securing information by transforming it into an unreadable format, only decipherable by authorized parties.
Dynamic Content
Web content that changes based on user interactions and input.
Static Content
Web content that remains the same regardless of user interactions.
