Who was Luke?
A Roman doctor, master historian, and the only non-Jewish writer of the New Testament who wrote the book of Acts.
Who was John?
A Jewish disciple and apostle, part of Jesus' inner circle, and referred to as the one whom Jesus loved.
Purpose of Four Gospels?
To provide a more complete picture of Christ, enable objective verification of the truthfulness of their accounts, and reward diligent seekers.
What does 'gospel' mean?
Good news.
Who was Matthew?
A Jewish tax collector and one of the twelve disciples who wrote the longest Gospel.
Who was Mark?
A Jewish man and friend of Peter, he was an eyewitness of Jesus who helped Paul and Barnabas in their ministry.
Who was Matthew before he followed Jesus?
A tax collector, despised by Jews.
Who were the authors of the Gospels?
Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John.
What was unique about Luke as a Gospel writer?
He had an extensive and rich vocabulary and was not an eyewitness of Jesus.
How many books did John write in the New Testament?
Five books.
What did the four Gospels compose?
A detailed and accurate picture of Jesus as the Messiah, the King, the Servant, and the Son of God.
Who was James in relation to John?
James was John's brother, and both were disciples.
What significance did John's writings have?
They comprise an important perspective as he was an eyewitness of Jesus.
