What is the motor effect
The idea that a current carrying wire in the presence of a magnetic field will experience a force
What does the direction of the magnetic field depend on
The direction of the current and the direction of the force
NOTE
The force always acts at right angles to the magnetic field of the magnets and to the direction of the current in the wire
In motor effect what needs to happens to experience the full force
The wire has to be at 90 degrees to the magnetic field if the wire runs parallel to the magnetic field it won’t experience a force at all
How do you calculate the force
Using F= BIL
Force(N) =magnetic flux density(T) x current(A) x length(m)
What factors affect the size of the force
Magnetic flux density
Current
Length of conductor

Explain how you do the Fleming left hand rule
place thumb , 1st finger and 2 finger so they are at right angles
point first finger in direction of the magnetic field from north to south
Now point your second finger in direction of the conventional current + to -
The Direction that your thumb is pointing to shows the direction of the force
