Defense in Depth
A security strategy that positions layers of diverse security control categories & functions as opposed to relying solely on perimeter controls.
Security Controls
Technologies or procedures put in place to mitigate vulnerabilities & risks, ensuring confidentiality, integrity, and availability (CIA) of information.
Separation of Duties
A security policy concept that states that duties and responsibilities should be divided among individuals to prevent ethical conflicts or abuse of powers.
Network Segmentation
Enforcing a security zone by separating a segment of the network from access by the rest of the network, often using firewalls, VPNs, or VLANs.
Air-Gapped Network
A network or host that is physically separated from other networks, with no cabling or wireless links connecting them.
Firewalls
Security devices that serve as a barrier at the network edge to protect against unauthorized access; important in a defense-in-depth strategy.
Antivirus Software
Software used to detect and remove malware, crucial for maintaining network security.
